Meet Our Physician Assistants

Many orthopedic problems are managed by Physician Assistants. Our PAs are certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and are licensed professionals in the state of Oregon with prescribing privileges. Our PAs meet stringent continuing medical education requirements including recertification by examination every six years.
The PAs at Oregon Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Clinic work as a team with the supervising physician to review your condition, prepare alternative care options, participate in your surgical care and provide post-operative follow-up care. In essence our PAs provide an excellent extension of the orthopedic surgeon.

Elisa Cruz, PA-C

Elisa Cruz, PA-C

I am honored and grateful to have been practicing medicine for 5 years now and as a healthcare practitioner I believe in the natural intelligence of the human body and its resilience. As an Orthopedic PA my goals are to work with patients to return them to their highest level of activity and function, which will directly influence their quality of life.

After sustaining my own knee injury as a soccer player in high school, I am empathetic to the frustrations and disappointments an injury can bring. Undergoing the surgical and recovery processes myself, I am not a stranger to the persistence it takes to get well, as well as the sense of gratefulness and cherishing of our bodies we can feel once recovery is achieved. Working in the Foot and Ankle subspeciality, I love reconnecting patients to a part of their body that connects them to the earth, it is our foundation and something we take for granted often: to have our feet work well. As a famous yogi once said: "How can you know the Universe if you don't know your big toe?"

In my free time I am an avid runner, dancer, yogi, and amateur rock climber.

Elisa is a nationally certified physician assistant. She received her undergraduate training at Bryan College and her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is involved in all areas of our orthopedic patient care in the office, hospital, and operating room.
